Lounging

I’m really  intrigued by gesture.  The two people read their newspapers while relaxing.  The man holds the paper up to his left while crossing his leg and holding it with his right hand.  The girl is slouching down in the seat while she reads.  The painting portrays them as if they’re under a skylight.  This is done with the light carpet and highlights on clothes.  The background is darker.  The contrast between dark and light create a dramatic image and the subjects are emphasized.
